Cancer Abounds
Cancer seems ever where,my secretary, her husband and my grand baby, just like a looming dark cloud. There are more examples, out of 12 women that work together it is touching 4 lives either directly or indirectly. Savanna is starting to have the side effects, vomiting, skin looks sunburned, loss of appetite and not feeling very well. Week two with four to go and then Chemotherapy. Cancer will touch you directly or indirectly in your lifetime or you are unique, I am not unique. It is crushing to see your daughter of 28 bear this heavy load and her young husband. It is like a war and each week is a battle. It is the roller coaster of a life time. It is draining and it is moments on the mountain top of faith. It is crazy. It is doubt and it is knowing God is there.
It is real.
You have too jump from the mountain into God's arms or it is too much to carry. You have to leap, not seeing where you are falling. Trust in the Lord or fall flat on your face, quite simple the choice. You may fall either way but God will go with you. He is with me in the valley and on the mountain. Every step, every where you turn, He is there. I will close by saying cancer is evil. It is not fair for this little girl to be battling for her life but life is not fair. Miracles happen and only God knows if Savanna is going to get one. They must home school the boys this fall to keep them from bringing home germs as Savanna will have a weakened immune system. They need to get the carpet out of their house and get either vinyl or leather or some sort of furniture without fabric. They need rest. They need a break. They need hope. They need Savanna to be OK but thousands need the same thing every single day. It is immense the pain from this creature called cancer. Melly

Dear Melly,
My heart is crying for Savannah, you and the rest of her family. Please know that not a day goes by that I'm not thinking of you and dear Savannah. I see that your faith is strong and I'm hoping it will carry you through this nightmare.
Wishing you and your family all the best and relief from the stress you're experiencing.
My prayers are with Savannah.
Sheila

Melly, cancer isn’t fair to anyone, and doubly unfair to a child. It is hard on all who love her, even as you mobilize to make her well – a long process. We are your friends and we are in this with you for the long haul in whatever way we can help, as inadequate as that feels for those of us too far away to be of practical use. We send love, and prayers for strength, patience and healing.
Hugs!
... Mary

Hi Melanie - I have been reading Savanna's webpage and your recent entries. Nicole Kicklighter posted the site address and I was so glad. I've been trying to find out if ya'll had a site going for Savanna. I will save it and view it often to keep updated on Savanna. Our prayers and thoughts have been with you all since the we heard the news. I can't begin to imagine what every one of you are going through. You Know I have my own 3 year old (well, almost 3), Katie. I couldn't imagine it being us in your place. I wouldn't be as strong as you all are. We love you all and are praying for you daily. Kevin said he saw Mr. Tom at the family reunion a few weekends ago. I was not able to be there because my mother was sick, but I would have liked to have seen him. Thanks for posting this site. I'll be viewing it often.

Hi, Melanie -- I am Tommy's second cousin (I think that's right). My Daddy, Russell, and Tommy were first cousins. I'm the one that mails the family reunion invitations to you.
I saw Savanna's picture in the paper and I knew that her paternal grandparents live across the road from my old house. I had no idea she was your granddaughter, too until I went to her website and saw you in the pictures with her. I cannot even being to imagine what you all are going through. But by reading your blogs, it looks like you have your heart and mind in the right place -- you are believing in God and you know that He is in the miracle business. I don't know how people make it in this old world without a belief in God.
Just stay positive and keep giving those grand babies your love. I will continue to pray for Savanna and the rest of her family. God bless you all!
